Why Bioparc zoo Fuengirola is worth more than one visit
As you wander through the many areas of the Bioparc, you become immersed in the animal’s, almost natural habitat. It’s hard to imagine that Bioparc zoo Fuengirola is only minutes from a thriving holiday resort. Waterfalls, giant bamboo, streams and tropical plants act as natural barriers between humans and animals. Many types of mammal and reptile species are waiting to be observed, such as crocodiles, gorillas, giant tortoises and secretive red panda. This particular Bioparc zoo, situated in the province of Malaga, is also on a mission to preserve the vulnerable Binturong. This unusual but intriguing creature, also known as affectionately as a Cat Bear, is certainly worth a gaze and some further research.

The featured animal show that runs at certain appointed times each day, is a truly awe inspiring atmosphere. Tamed animals that we may not normally see out in the open or without bars, are allowed to wander freely and have been trained to follow a few carefully placed food trails. The experience is superb and crowds usually leave on a high having been so close to the animals in their own natural environment.
The park itself has recently received an award acknowledging the fantastic creation of the enclosure known as ‘The Mangrove’. This includes a remarkable underwater view of this unusual ecosystem, and is actually home to a collection of huge catfish. You’ll also get a glimpse of a variety colourful cichlid fish and turtles, some being threatened by extinction.

The warm summer evenings on the Costa del Sol allow the Bioparc Fuengirola to offer visitors an opportunity that is probably unique to anywhere in Spain or on the continent to open its doors until 11pm in July and August. The only other zoo in the world to do this is currently in Singapore.
