Spanish police issue arrest warrant for British tourist

Spain’s National Police say they have issued a European arrest warrant for a British man wanted in connection with the death of Argentinian Mario Sauco.

The unnamed 45-year-old British tourist allegedly punched the 65-year-old pensioner in the face on a zebra crossing in the resort town of Fuengirola.

Police sources say they believe the British holidaymaker followed Sauco from a bar after an alleged incident involving a teenage girl.

Witnesses told police that Mr Sauco was asked to leave the unnamed bar after being accused of putting his arm around a teenager.

Another witness to the incident said that the alleged attacker was “guilt-ridden” after he realized he may have killed the OAP.

The victim suffered a broken skull when his head hit the ground after having been punched in the face and later died while being treated at Malaga’s Carlos Haya Hospital four days later.

A passer-by photographed the assailant who he described as a middle-aged man wearing a red t-shirt. The attacker fled the scene following the attack and is now believed to be back in the UK.
